Samsung is the leading Smartphone Brand in Nepal

Samsung is the most loved smartphone brand here in Nepal as of April 2021. According to the reports of StatCounter Samsung covered 35.73% of the total smartphone market share in the month of April here in Nepal. Xiaomi follows second with a market share of 21.45% in the month of April. This doesn’t come as a big surprise as Samsung is also the leading brand when it comes to the global market share covering 23% of the smartphone market in the first quarter of 2021.

Galaxy S21 series is the major factor when it comes to the global dominance of Samsung in the smartphone market. But for brands like Samsung to be successful in the market like Nepal need to provide smartphones with good performance but at a reasonable price and Samsung just does that. Samsung’s Galaxy A-series and M-series smartphones bring great specs but at a considerable price and with Samsung’s branding and many years of trust that Nepalese people have in Samsung makes the brand best in Nepal.

The importance of pricing at the marketplace like Nepal is drastically visible when you see the market share of Apple in Nepal. Apple one of the giants in the global market with 17% of the 2021 Q1 market share only has a mediocre 7.73% market share in April and comes fourth behind Xiaomi and Oppo here in Nepal.

The growing popularity of Chinese smartphones in Nepal is visible when you see the graph of April. Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo are the three Chinese smartphone brands in the top five with 21.25%, 9.46%, and 6.33% market share respectively. Xiaomi and Vivo have seen a major growth year-on-year as the market share for the vendors hiked from 14.66% to 21.25% and 0.01% to 6.63% respectively.
