ZTE has unveiled its flagship Axon 40 Ultra smartphone. It is the successor of last year’s Axon 30 Ultra and brings specs like Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, under-display selfie camera, AMOLED display, and more. Here, we’ll talk about the specifications, features, availability, and expected price of the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra in Nepal.

Design and Display

ZTE Axon 40 Ultra features a 6.81-inch curved AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution of 2480 x 1080 pixels. The display here supports a 120HZ refresh rate, 360Hz touch sampling, and 1440Hz PWM dimming. This 10-bit panel also offers a peak brightness of 1500 nits.

One of the main highlights of the smartphone is the lack of any punch-hole or a notch on the display as it features an under-display camera. The device weighs 204 grams, measures 8.4mm thick, and is available in Black and Silver color options.

Performance

Talking about the processor, the Axon 40 Ultra is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. It comes with up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 1TB of UFS 3.1 storage. There’s a vapor chamber (VC) liquid cooling unit that covers a 36356² mm area to keep the device cool.

Fueling the smartphone is a 5000mAh battery with support for 80W fast charging. Despite being a flagship smartphone, it does lack wireless charging support. On the software side, it runs on the Android 12 with MiFavor UI on top.

Camera

For optics, the triple rear camera setup of the Axon 40 Ultra packs three 64-megapixel lenses. It is headlined by a 64MP Sony IMX787 primary lens with OIS and omnidirectional autofocus, followed by another 64MP Sony IMX787 lens for ultrawide shots. The final 64MP sensor is a telephoto lens that supports OIS and up to 5.7x optical zoom.

All three rear cameras are capable of taking 8K videos. There’s also a flicker sensor, a ToF sensor, and a tri-microphone setup on the camera island.

For selfies and video calls, the smartphone has a 16MP under-display camera. This third-gen under-display camera tech of ZTE features a dedicated UDC Pro chip and an independent pixel driver. It brings a new sub-pixel arrangement over the camera to make the area more uniform.

ZTE Axon 40 Ultra Price and Availability

ZTE Axon 40 Ultra price in China starts at CNY 4,998 for the base 8GB RAM + 256GB storage model. The price goes all the way up to CNY 7,289 for the top 16 GB RAM + 1 TB storage model. ZTE has not announced any details about Axon 40 Ultra's global availability.
