Omoda 04 Is Coming to Nepal; And It May Be the Sharpest-Looking EV at NAIMA 2026

SPG Automobiles is bringing Omoda's most aggressive electric SUV yet to Kathmandu this August. The 04 has been turning heads globally since its concept debut, and Nepal is next on the list.

Omoda has been quietly building a reputation in Nepal. The E5 found its footing, SPG Automobiles expanded its dealer network, and now the distributor is ready to raise the stakes. SPG Automobiles is set to unveil the Omoda 04 at the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026, running Shrawan 26–31 at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, an event that has already drawn 49 confirmed brands and completely sold out its stall allocation before the deadline.

This is not a facelift or a trim-level addition. The 04 is a completely separate model from the E5, designed from scratch for a younger, style-driven buyer, and globally, it has already generated the kind of attention most automakers spend years trying to manufacture.

A Design That Draws Comparisons to Cars Costing Three Times the Price

The 04's development story is unconventional. Initially presented as the Omoda C3 concept by Chery Group roughly two years ago, it went through a pre-production phase as the Omoda 4 before receiving its final production name. The car took shape as a compact crossover built around avant-garde styling, sharp creases, a front fascia dominated by a large air intake, aggressively shaped split LED headlights, prominently accentuated wheel arches, and boomerang-shaped rear lights connected by a full-width light strip running the entire width of the body.

That last design detail is what started the comparisons. The SUV's aggressive proportions and dramatic rear light signature have prompted widespread comparisons to the Lamborghini Urus ,  a car that costs many multiples of what the 04 will ever be priced at. Whether that comparison holds up in person is something Kathmandu buyers will be able to judge for themselves come August. But the fact that a Chinese compact EV is being mentioned in the same breath as a supercar SUV says something about what Omoda has pulled off here.

Omoda describes the 04's design philosophy as "Cyber Mecha", a combination of angular lines, metallic finishes, and a lightning bolt-shaped light design, aimed squarely at a generation of lifestyle-driven buyers who want something that refuses to blend into traffic. The interior follows the same sci-fi and e-sports-inspired approach, with a large central display powered by a 2.5K Snapdragon processor that Omoda itself compares to a gaming screen.

Built on Chery's Proven Platform, Pure EV for Nepal

The Omoda 04 sits on Chery's T1X platform and measures around 4.4 meters in length ,  compact on paper, but the design language makes it feel significantly larger, which is a deliberate trick of proportions. It will enter Nepal as a pure electric vehicle.

Globally, the 04 targets the compact B-segment SUV space occupied by cars like the Toyota C-HR and Renault Captur, sitting below the Omoda 5 and the larger Omoda 9 in the brand's lineup. In Nepal's market that translates to a direct conversation with the BYD Atto 3 and MG ZS EV, both of which have already carved out real buyer bases in Kathmandu and beyond. The 04 is not trying to undercut those cars on price. It is trying to make them look boring by comparison.

Battery and Performance

SPG Automobiles has not confirmed battery or motor specifications for the Nepal-bound variant. Reports from international markets suggest the Omoda 04 could arrive with two battery options ,  a 61.1 kWh pack and a larger 77 kWh unit, though which variants actually reach Nepal, and with what motor outputs, will likely be confirmed at the expo itself.

Globally, the full battery-electric version of the 04 is expected to use a 204 hp motor delivering around 420 km of range on the larger pack. A sportier Omoda 04 Ultra variant has also been announced internationally, using the brand's Super Hybrid System producing 204 PS and 310 Nm. Nepal is getting the pure EV version, not the hybrid, which is the right call for this market given the tax implications of hybrid drivetrains under the current structure.

Given how SPG handled the E5's Nepal launch, customizing motor output and ground clearance specifically to suit local terrain and pricing, a similar localization approach for the 04 is likely, though nothing is confirmed until SPG makes the official announcement at NAIMA.

Cabin Tech: Where the 04 Genuinely Earns Its Price Tag

Design gets buyers through the door. The cabin is what keeps them. The Omoda 04 comes equipped with a 13.2-inch vertical touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, a 50-watt wireless charger, connected services, and a 16-feature ADAS system covering both driving and parking scenarios. That is a meaningful list for a compact SUV in this segment.

Omoda has also signaled that an AI-powered voice assistant built on a large language model is planned for the vehicle, with capabilities expected to include voice cloning and mood-based music recommendations. Rollout timing for that feature has not been confirmed, so treat it as a future update rather than a day-one feature.

What is confirmed is the 2.5K Snapdragon-powered display system, the 50W wireless charging pad ,  significantly faster than the standard 15W units found in most competitors ,  and the full ADAS suite that covers 16 scenarios across both highway and urban driving. At whatever price SPG announces, that tech stack will be hard to argue with.

What to Expect on Price

No official price has been announced for Nepal. For context, SPG already has a reference point here. The Omoda E5, the brand's first EV in Nepal, proved the distributor could land a well-equipped electric SUV at a competitive price, the 04 now has to justify stepping above that benchmark.

The 04, with a larger battery option, a higher-specification interior, and a more premium positioning globally, will almost certainly land above the E5. We have to wait until the official announcement of price.

NAIMA 2026 Is the Right Stage for This Launch

Nepal's auto expo calendar has gotten crowded fast. But NAIMA 2026, with 49 confirmed brands across four-wheelers, two-wheelers, and commercial vehicles, is shaping up to be the most significant one yet. Last year's inaugural edition drew over 100,000 visitors across its run ,  a number that surprised even the organizers. The Omoda 04 is walking into exactly the right room.

The question the Kathmandu market will eventually answer is whether bold design and a strong feature list are enough to compete with brands that have a longer service history on Nepal's roads. SPG's bet, it appears, is that Nepali buyers are ready for something that looks like nothing else on the market. The NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026, beginning Shrawan 26 at Bhrikutimandap, is where that bet gets tested in public.
