Vatsal Impex Pvt. Ltd., the authorised distributor of Xiaomi products in Nepal has launched the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus in Nepal. The Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus is the latest phone in the lineup of Redmi smartphones. The price of the Redmi 5 Plus for the 3GB variant is Rs.22,499 and Rs. 25,499 for the 64GB variant.
The Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus follows the usual Xiaomi design language but this time around, the company has opted in for a FullView IPS Display with 5.99-inch Display. As with most of the other mid-range smartphones, the Redmi 5 Plus too comes with Full HD+ Screen resolution (2160x1080p).
What's nice to see in this phone is the inclusion of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC. If you can add some cash and get the 4GB variant of the smartphone, the phone will easily handle even the most demanding game titles with ease. The SoC is clocked @2.0GHz and there are a total of 8 cores.
As it is with all the other Xiaomi phones, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus too is a dual-SIM smartphone. One slot is dedicated for the SIM card while the other can be either used for second SIM card or it can be used for storage expansion. You can use the second slot to expand the storage as much as 128GB.
The Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus ships with Android Nougat 7.1.2 but the company has confirmed that the phone will get Android Oreo in the next update. Since this is not a Android One smartphone like the Mi A1, the phone doesn't run stock Android, rather their home-grown MIUI 9.
On the camera front, there's a 12MP primary shooter with a f/2.2 aperture lens. The company has also included phase detection autofocus on the phone. What's more? You can get dual-tone flash which neutralizes the flash color to give out more natural looking photos even at night.
The selfie camera on the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus has a 5MP sensor and the performance out of it is just fine. The brand isn't promoting the Redmi 5 Plus as a selfie camera phone and it is understandable why. The phone takes decent photos at broad daylight but underperforms when the lighting condition becomes unfavourable.
The phone is powered by a 4000mAh battery which easily lasts a day and for most users will even last whole two days. The big battery coupled with big 4000mAh battery means that the battery endurance on this phone shouldn't be a concern to anyone.
