After the serious pressure from the government on not using fossil fuels on two-wheelers and look for alternate options, India’s third-largest motor company, TVS has launched their new bike, the Apache RTR 200Fi E100 which works on ethanol.
Generally, this bike is an ethanol-based version of the 200cc Apache sports-bike. The new bike by two-wheeler can completely run on ethanol with no blend of petrol at all. For now, the bike is available in certain parts of India while soon be available around other places too.
Ethanol is a major source of energy for vehicles mostly in Brazil as they have been manufacturing ethanol-based vehicles for long years. Well, this time India has also moved ahead this great initiative. This new ethanol concept bike was already showcased by India in Auto Expo 2018 held in Delhi from which the concept received huge attraction and positive reviews.
As 100% ethanol is not available around the country (India), India is planning on blending ethanol with petrol at 7.2 percent rate by November which will in fact be the highest petrol blending performed in the country. Also, the new Apache RTR 200 can run on a maximum of 20% petrol blended with 80% ethanol. In India, the price of ethanol is INR 20 less than that of petrol (Ethanol- Rs 52; Petrol- Rs 72) This implies that the new initiative will benefit both the environment and the rider itself as its very much cost-efficient.
Coming to the features of the new ethanol-based bike by TVS, the bike’s engine can boast a power of 20.7bhp at 8500 rpm and peak torque of 18.1 Nm at 7000rpm. The top speed of the vehicle is 129 kmph.
