Tesla Official Entry into Nepal

A Memorandum of Understanding has finally been signed between Tesla and Tesla Nepal after four years of negotiations. Through the partnership with Tesla Inc., Tesla Nepal Pvt. Ltd. is now the official distributor and dealer of Tesla vehicles in Nepal.

The establishment of the authorized distributor is expected to bring about a 40% price reduction for Tesla cars.

“Surendra Koirala, the CEO of Tesla Nepal, mentioned that the MoU was signed after four years of negotiations.”

Showrooms, Service Centers, and Charging Infrastructure

Tesla’s first showroom in Nepal is being built in Baluwatar, Kathmandu. The second showroom is set to be built in Jhamsikhel, Lalitpur. Tesla Nepal is also setting up Experience Centers, Service Centers, and a comprehensive Charging Network throughout the country, keeping up with Tesla’s established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

“The partnership and agreements with Tesla headquarters in Texas, USA, and Tesla’s international offices ensure that Tesla’s operations in Nepal align with global standards.”

A service center is planned for Ekantakuna, equipped with five Tesla Superchargers.

Tesla Nepal intends to further expand its footprint by adding more showrooms and charging stations in major cities like Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan, Butwal, Biratnagar, and Jhapa over the next decade.

Tesla's Presence in Nepal Prior to Official Dealership

Tesla cars have been available in Nepal since 2020 despite the absence of an authorized distributor. The cars were brought to Nepal by Arete International. The Tesla EVs imported by Arete International itself were retailed prices for the EVs, which led to further higher retail prices for customers (almost up to 30% import penalties).
