Samsung has finally dropped the curtains from Exynos 1330 and Exynos 1380 SoCs, the company’s new 5G processors. The Exynos 1330 is the new entry in the Exynos lineup, while the Exynos 1380 is the successor of last year’s Exynos 1280.  So, let’s check out the capabilities of these new Samsung SoCs by going through their specs and features. 

 

Samsung Exynos 1330 and Exynos 1380 Overview 

Exynos 1330

Samsung Exynos 1330 is built using the same 5nm EUV process as the Exynos 1280. It features two Arm Cortex-A78 performance cores clocked at 2.4 GHz and six Cortex-A55 power-efficient cores clocked at 2.0 GHz. Besides, there’s a Mali-G68 GPU, which according to Samsung, delivers an enhanced 3D gaming experience with immersive imagery and a steady frame rate during play.

 

 

The Exynos 1330 is a 5G chip that supports the sub-6GHz frequency. It enables fast download speeds of up to 2.55Gbps and upload speeds of up to 1.28Gbps.

Adding on, this new Samsung chip integrates an enhanced image signal processor that supports up to 108MP cameras. The chip also has a powerful Multi-Format Codec (MFC) that enables Exynos 1330 to capture 4K video at 30fps. Lastly, the chip supports a Full HD+ display with up to 120Hz refresh rate.

 

Exynos 1380

Like its predecessor and Exynos 1330, the Exynos 1380 is also built using a 5nm EUV process. However, you get a much-improved microarchitecture design with the Exynos 1380—four powerful Arm Cortex-A78 CPUs @ 2.4GHz and four power-efficient Cortex-A55 CPUs @ 2.2GHz. As per Samsung, the chip delivers 40% faster execution speed, 20% faster game loading, and 30% more powerful multi-core performance compared to Exynos 1280. 

 

 

This new Samsung Exynos chip features Arm Mali-G68 GPU that has five cores running at 950 MHz. There’s also a built-in AI engine featuring an enhanced NPU that supports up to 4.9 trillion operations per second. Besides, the Exynos 1380 supports a Full HD+ display with up to 144Hz refresh rate for a seamless viewing experience and smooth scrolling.

Exynos 1380 is also a 5G-enabled chipset that supports both sub-6GHz and mmWave 5G. The chip further packs an advanced Image Signal Processor (ISP) that offers flagship-level camera features including up to 200MP image sensor support, zero shutter lag at up to 64MP, High Dynamic Range, and Electronic Image Stabilization. Besides, with AI imaging technology, the Exynos 1380 can recognize various objects to provide optimal image processing of each object.

Conclusion

The Exynos 1330 and 1380 are the two new SoCs that will power the upcoming midrange 5G Samsung phones. According to the company, both of these chips are already in mass production. Moreover, the Exynos 1380 will feature on the upcoming Galaxy A54 smartphone, while the Exynos 1380 will power more affordable 5G phones like Galaxy A14 5G and M14 5G.
