Bajaj Auto has just introduced a new variant of its popular Pulsar N160 motorcycle, designed to cater to family-oriented riders and budget-conscious buyers. This single-seat variant offers affordability and enhanced comfort, making it an attractive alternative to the standard model. Priced approximately INR 10,000 lower than the base variant, it provides a cost-effective solution for everyday commuting needs.

Key Features of Bajaj Pulsar N160 Single Seat Variant

The most notable change in this new variant is the transition from split seats to a single-piece seat, which offers enhanced comfort for both rider and pillion. Alongside the seat modification, Bajaj has replaced the split grab rails at the rear with a sturdier single-piece grab rail. This change improves passenger accommodation and facilitates carrying heavier loads, addressing the everyday needs of Indian users.

Bajaj's approach to adapting motorcycles for practical usage is evident in other models, such as the Bajaj Freedom CNG bike, which features an extended seat for enhanced utility. The single-piece seat of the Pulsar N160 is ergonomically designed with a scooped front section to provide better support and ease of access, ensuring rider comfort on longer journeys. Its narrow front profile aids in achieving a stable footing when stopping.

Specifications and Equipment

The Pulsar N160 single-seat variant retains the reliable 37 mm telescopic forks at the front and a Nitrox mono shock at the rear, ensuring a balanced ride quality. Braking duties are managed by a 300 mm front disc and a 230 mm rear disc. Unlike the standard dual-channel ABS on the base variant, this new model features single-channel ABS, making it a more budget-friendly option for Indian buyers.

The motorcycle rides on 17-inch alloy wheels, fitted with 100/80 front and 130/70 rear tubeless tires, ensuring stable grip and handling. With a ground clearance of 165 mm and a fuel tank capacity of 14 liters, the bike is well-suited for city commutes and occasional long rides. A seat height of 795 mm ensures ease of access and maneuverability.

Performance and Engine Details

Powering the Pulsar N160 single-seat variant is a 164.82 cc, single-cylinder, SOHC, 2-valve, air-cooled engine. This power unit delivers an output of 16 PS and a peak torque of 14.65 Nm, paired with a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox for smooth power delivery.

In terms of aesthetics, the single-seat variant mirrors the base model, retaining the same color schemes and graphic elements. It comes equipped with a bi-functional LED projector headlamp complemented by LED DRLs and a signature LED tail lamp with a glitter effect. The turn indicators remain halogen units.

Technology and Features

The Pulsar N160 single-seat variant is equipped with a digital console that supports Bluetooth connectivity, enabling call alerts, message notifications, and fuel level updates. A USB charging port is conveniently positioned at the front to aid riders on the go. While the standard model offers additional features such as turn-by-turn navigation and multiple ABS riding modes (Road, Rain, and Off-Road), these features are not available in the single-seat version.
