Honor’s New Gaming Smartphone, Honor 80 GT With Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Launched: Full Details Here

Recently, Honor unveiled a brand-new member of the Honor 80 family, this time with the GT designation. The Honor 80 GT sits between the Honor 80 Pro and the standard model, but due to its Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, it appears to be much more similar to the 80 Pro. The device is the newest gaming option in the HONOR 80 series from the company.

The phone is designed for gamers and has the same processing capability as the Honor 80 Pro. However, the cost falls in the middle between the standard and Pro versions. Without further ado, let's see what this nicer version has to offer.

Overview

Design and display

The Honor 80 GT boasts a more elegant look that is more suited to gaming smartphones. It doesn't have an odd or bulky design, and it has a stunning appearance that, somehow, sets it apart from the other phones in the Honor 80 series.

The 6.67-inch FHD+ curved OLED display on the HONOR 80 GT features 10-bit 1.07 billion colors and 2160Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. The GT features a 6.67-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2,400 × 1,080 pixels.

Additionally, it has 100% DCI-P3, 10-bit color depth, and a peak brightness of 1,400 nits. It refreshes quickly, at 120 Hz. There is a little punch hole in the upper center of the flat panel.

Performances and Storage

The phone has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 SoC with graphics processing from an Adreno GPU, up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The phone launches Magic UI 7.0, which is based on Android 12.

The Honor 80 GT's internal hardware consists of a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC and either 12 GB or 16 GB of RAM. Storage-wise, it is always 256 GB. With the global releases, there might be further varieties, but only time will tell.

Additionally, the phone has a tiny 1,415 copper wire and a big 4,3866 mm2 vapor chamber for better cooling. A sheet of graphene with a thickness of 74 mm is also present.

Battery and connectivity

The Honor 80 GT comes equipped with a 4,800 mAh battery that supports Honor's 66W fast charging protocol. Android 12 and Magic UI 7.0 are the default operating systems when the phone first launches. A 4,800mAh battery with 66W rapid charging capabilities is included in the HONOR 80 GT.

A USB Type-C port, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ax, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, and 5G SA/NSA are among the available connectivity choices. The phone has stereo speakers and an in-display fingerprint sensor for security. The smartphone has Magic UI 7.0 on top of Android 12.

Camera

Particularly fascinating is the camera configuration on the rear. The smartphone offers a unique camera setup in terms of optics. The unusual 54-Megapixel Sony IMX800 sensor with an f/1.9 aperture is our first option.

We have a basic 8-Megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture for the ultrawide photographer. The front-facing camera is a 16-Megapixel camera, and there is also a 2-Megapixel dedicated macro camera.
