Honda CBR 250R: Long Term Review Nepal

Introduction

Honda has been in Nepal since 2025 BS. The company sells bikes of all categories ranging from 100CC all the way up to 1000cc motorcycles. CBR 250R is an entry-level sports bike which is not only fun to ride but is also supremely comfortable. I own the CBR 250R since last 2 years and my experience with it has been great. I think it is one of the best 250cc motorcycles even after 7 years of its launch. I love the way it handles the twisties and in this review, I will be explaining why I love the bike so much.

Purchase Price: Rs.5,29,000/-

Purchase Location: Honda Showroom, Teku (Big Bikes)

Looks

CBR250R has an intense sporty look which feels cool on riding. CBR comes with 5 design. Red, White, Black, Orange (Repsol) and tri-colour which is the combination of red, white, and blue. Mine is white.

Engine

2017 CBR 250R has a 250 cc one-cylinder four-stroke liquid-cooled DOHC engine. It is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission gearbox. The engine churns out an output of 26 BHP and maximum torque of 22.9 Nm. While changing gear, this bike makes a sound of a gear-change click. The engine gets hot while commuting around the city on slow phase. But on the highway, it's not much hot. Thanks to the Liquid Cooling feature which keeps the engine cool in all condition to make it deliver consistently high-performance efficiency.

Fuel Tank Capacity and Mileage

Comparing most of the 250cc bikes, I guess Honda CBR has a big fuel tank with the capacity of 13 litres. And talking about mileage, CBR gives a constant mileage of 30km/Lt. Since I bought it has been almost same.

Handling, Suspension & Braking

The CBR250R has a weight of 153 kgs which is very stable at high speeds and with wide tubeless tire providing plenty of grip which helps perform well around the tight bends. But what's more impressive is the brake and its suspension setup. I guess CBR is more comfortable than KTM RC series. Talking about comfort, as much as RC I don't have to bend much on CBR.

  • Suspension: Front- 37mm fork; 4.65 inches travel; Rear- Pro-Link single with 4.07 inches travel.
  • Brake: Front- Twin-piston calliper with single 296mm disc; Rear- Single-caliper 220mm disc

The braking system that I have is non-ABS which is quite a bummer. Speed braking could be dangerous sometime causing the slide of the tyre. So the brake on non-ABS should be used taking caution.

The Good

  • Look seems cool and sporty.
  • Engine Power is good as needed to commute.
  • Both riders can have a feeling of comfort with a split seat.
  • Tubeless tire with good grip on on-road.
  • Self-start.
  • Mileage seems constant and matches the claimed figured by the company.

The Bad

  • No leg guard.
  • The braking system is STD on my bike. I would prefer ABS with next buy.
  • Gear shift makes a huge sound.
  • Offroading is not comfortable with low ground clearance and on-road suspension.
  • The bike is on the pricier side.

The Competition

CBR 250R fall in the category of BigBikes. So the competitors for this bike would be KTM 200, Benelli TNT 300, etc.
