Google has launched the most affordable member of the Pixel 6 family. The all-new Pixel 6a is the successor of last year’s Pixel 5a and brings specs like Tensor chipset, OLED display, and more. Google Pixel 6a Overview

Design and Display

Google Pixel 6a features a 6.1-inch OLED panel with an FHD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. The display here supports a standard 60Hz refresh rate and has the protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Like the other Pixel 6 series smartphones, the 6a also has a bar-shaped camera module that spans the width of the device. It features a 3D thermoformed composite back and has an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance. Google has launched the smartphone in Chalk, Charcoal, and Sage color options.

Performance

The Pixel 6a is also powered by Google’s custom-developed 5nm Tensor SoC that has two ARM Cortex-X1 cores running at 2.8GHz. The Mali-G78 here handles the graphics. It comes in a single memory configuration of 6GB LPDDR5 RAM + 128GB UFS 3.1 internal storage. The Tensor also has a built-in Titan M2 chip for security.

Feuling this Pixel device is a 4410mAh battery claimed to last up to 24 hours. On the software side, the smartphone runs on Android 12 with Material You UI out of the box. Google has promised 5 years of security updates on the Pixel 6a.

Camera and Others

For optics, the Pixel 6a features a dual rear camera setup that consists of a 12.2MP dual-pixel main camera and a 12MP ultrawide with 114-degree FOV. Upfront is an 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. The back camera can take 4K videos at 30/60fps while the front camera is capped at 1080p 30fps.

The smartphone brings support for an in-display fingerprint scanner for biometrics. Connectivity options on the device include 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port.
