Qualcomm Snapdragon 778 Plus 5G
Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G Plus 5G is an upgraded version of the Snapdragon 778G. Like the 778G, the new Plus version is also based on Qualcomm’s Kryo 670 CPU cores. It can now boost up to 2.5GHz, instead of 2.4GHz. This 6nm chip has the same Adreno 642L GPU but with a 20% higher performance boost.
Other than that, specifications like X53 5G modem for up to 3.7 Gbps downlinks and 1.6 Gbps uplinks, a triple IPS (Spectra 570L), AI capabilities, and others remain unchanged.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G
Snapdragon 695 5G is a 6nm chip based on Qualcomm’s Kryo 660 CPU cores (up to 2.2GHz) and packs the Adreno 619 GPU. It has support for both mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G. According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 695 5G offers up to 30% faster graphics rendering and 15% improved CPU performance compared to its predecessor (Snapdragon 690).
Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 4G
Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 4G is a new chipset that is built on 6nm process technology. It uses Qualcomm’s Kryo 265 CPU cores and features Adreno 610 GPU. The chipset here is targeted for budget-friendly smartphones.
The chipset uses Qualcomm Spectra 346 for image signal processing. It supports up to a 64-megapixel camera and can capture 1080p videos at 60fps. Furthermore, the chip packs a Snapdragon X11 LTE modem, FastConnect 6100 Subsystem, FHD+ displays at 90Hz, and more.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 Plus 5G
Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 Plus 5G is a slightly improved version of the Snapdragon 480. It’s still an 8nm chip featuring Qualcomm’s Kryo 460 CPU cores and the Adeno 619 GPU. However, the CPU now runs at 2.2 GHz (up from 2.0 GHz) and the GPU has also seen some speed improvements.
Designed for affordable 5G phones, the processor features a Snapdragon X51 5G modem and supports both sub-6 and mmWave 5G networks. The chip can now support 1080p+ displays at up to 120Hz, whereas the Snapdragon 480 was capped at 90Hz.
Qualcomm has not revealed any new smartphones to be equipped with these new Snapdragon chipsets. It's also not clear when a smartphone with one of these chipsets will make its debut. Either way, we expect to see some smartphones of Xiaomi, Motorola, Oppo, Vivo, and Hono featuring these SoCs.
