Chaudhary Group EV Vehicles Under 45 Lakhs: Neta V50 Nepal's Most Accessible Electric Car

There are very few moments in Nepal's automotive history where a single vehicle defines an entire company's ambition. The Neta V50 is one of them. Chaudhary Group, one of Nepal's oldest and most trusted business conglomerates, with roots stretching back to the 1870s, made a deliberate, mission-driven decision when it launched CG Motors: no petrol, no diesel, no compromise. Every vehicle CG Motors brings to Nepal runs on electricity. And the Neta V50, priced at Rs. 38.99 lakh, is where that commitment becomes accessible.

It is the only vehicle in CG Motors' entire lineup that sits under Rs. 45 lakh. That is not an accident, it is a statement about who this car is for.

What CG Motors Stands For

Before talking about the car, it's worth understanding the organization behind it. CG Motors is the electric vehicle wing of CG Corp Global, a conglomerate with 167 companies and 123 brands operating worldwide. When Nirvana Chaudhary, Managing Director of Chaudhary Group, launched CG Motors with the tagline "Join the Revolution," he was pointing at something Nepal doesn't take lightly: the country imports nearly all its petroleum, runs primarily on hydroelectric power, and has everything to gain from a genuine shift to electric mobility. CG Motors' entire portfolio, every brand, every model, reflects that conviction. The Neta V50 sits at the entry point of that portfolio.

The Car: Neta V50

Price: Rs. 38.99 Lakh

The Neta V50 is a subcompact electric crossover utility vehicle (CUV) produced by Hozon Auto under the Neta brand, one of China's fastest-growing EV marques. At 4,070 mm in length, 1,690 mm in width, and 1,540 mm in height, with a 2,420 mm wheelbase, the V50 occupies a smart middle ground: substantial enough to feel like a proper car, compact enough to be genuinely agile in Kathmandu's famously unforgiving traffic.

The design philosophy draws from what Neta calls "Dolphin Streamline", a smooth, low-drag front profile that minimizes wind resistance without sacrificing visual presence. This isn't just aesthetic; it contributes to efficiency and range, which matter considerably more in the real world than on a spec sheet.

Performance

Under the hood, or rather, under the floor, sits a 70 kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor producing 95 PS of power and 160 Nm of torque. The 0-50 km/h sprint happens in under 3.9 seconds, which is the acceleration range that matters most for Nepal's stop-start urban driving. On open roads, the V50 tops out at 100 km/h, a sensible ceiling for a city-focused CUV.

The 38.54 kWh lithium-ion battery delivers a claimed 380 km of range (NEDC), which is meaningful. Nepal's average daily urban commute sits around 15-20 km. Even if you discount the NEDC figure by 20% for real-world conditions, you're still looking at 300+ km of usable range, enough to go a full week without charging in most scenarios. When you do need to recharge, DC fast charging brings the battery from 30% to 80% in just 20 minutes using a 40.7 kW charger.

AC home charging completes a full cycle in 6-8 hours, meaning you can plug in at night and wake up to a full battery every single morning.

Interior

Step inside and the Neta V50's interior leans confidently into technology. A 14.6-inch tablet-style central touchscreen dominates the dashboard, offering full touch control with phone projection for both Android and Apple systems. Navigation, music, calls ,  all centralized, all intuitive. A 12-inch horizontal digital instrument cluster sits ahead of the driver, keeping the essential information readable and uncluttered.

The sport-style leather seats feature a perforated, breathable design,  a small detail that matters considerably when Kathmandu summers push temperatures upward. Rear seats can recline and fold, expanding cargo volume to 552 litres. That is more than adequate for a family grocery run, a weekend trip, or carrying equipment for a small business.

The HEPA N95-grade air filter deserves specific mention in a Nepal context. Kathmandu consistently ranks among Asia's most polluted cities. An N95-grade cabin filter is not a luxury feature here, it is a public health advantage. Combined with the V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) external discharge function that allows the car to power small electrical appliances, the Neta V50 does something quietly remarkable: it makes itself useful beyond just transportation.

Safety Features

The V50 comes standard with a thermostatic Battery Management System that regulates temperature automatically in both hot and cold climates, protecting battery longevity and performance throughout Nepal's varied altitudes and seasons. Electronic Stability Control (ESC) manages traction actively, automatic headlight sensing adjusts lighting conditions without driver input, and front airbags, ABS with EBD, hill-start assist, electric parking brake with auto-hold, and a tyre-pressure monitoring system round out the safety package.

The warranty structure is one of the most competitive in its segment: 8 years or 150,000 km on the battery and motor, and a remarkable 10 years or 200,000 km on non-moveable exterior parts. CG Motors backs every purchase with the charging and service infrastructure they are actively building, their DC fast charging network already spans 244+ locations across Nepal, with expansion ongoing.

The Neta V50's pricing drew debate when it first arrived in Nepal. Some questioned why it costs more than Neta V variants available in China. CG Motors' answer is transparent: vehicles sold in China benefit from domestic government incentives that don't apply to exports. Additionally, Nepal drives on the left, every Neta V must be converted from left-hand drive to right-hand drive before it can legally operate here, and that conversion carries real research, development, and production costs. The pricing, in that context, reflects actual economics rather than inflated margins.

Conclusion

The Neta V50 is not trying to be the flashiest car under Rs. 45 lakh in Nepal. It is trying to be the most complete,  the most sensible entry point into responsible, sustainable mobility, backed by the institutional weight and long-term commitment of Chaudhary Group. For a country that produces almost no petroleum of its own but generates enormous amounts of clean hydroelectric power, that argument doesn't just make financial sense. It makes national sense.

The revolution Nirvana Chaudhary spoke about when CG Motors launched? The Neta V50 is where most people will begin.
