Big festivals like Dashain Tihar are finally over. Various car dealerships are preparing to bring new models to the Nepali market on the occasion of the English New Year. Hyundai, Mahindra, and Maruti Suzuki have intensified preparations to bring new models to the market. The value of the new vehicles coming in the Nepali market can be estimated from 25 lakhs to 1 crore.
On the eve of the New Year, Hyundai is preparing to launch two new models Alcazar and Ioniq 5 in Nepal. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is an electric crossover, while the Alcazar is a 7-seater SUV. The value of both the vehicles is estimated to be between Rs 70-90 lakhs.
Mahindra is also expected to unveil its latest SUV XUV 700 in Nepal around the New Year. As soon as the company made it public in India, the XUV 700 was getting very good bookings.
The new generation Celerio launched by Maruti Suzuki in India a few days ago will also arrive in Nepal soon.
Hyundai Ioniq 5
Hyundai Ioniq 5, which is in high demand all over the world, is sure to hit the Nepali market. The futuristic design, clean and sharp line used in the exterior have given this crossover a sleek and premium look. Customers will be able to buy it within 80 to 85 lakhs in Nepal.
Features like Rectangular Shaped Pixel Light Design Headlamp, Attractive LED DRL, Parametric Dynamic Design Language, Tight Satellite, Flush Door Handle make it more premium.
Along with its attractive exterior looks, its interior cabin also looks futuristic. It's designed with a Cabin Living Space theme. The center console is also movable. Hyundai has named this technology Universal Island.
Solar panels have been installed on the roof of the Ioniq 5, due to which the battery will be recharged automatically when parking the vehicle in the light. Its front seats can be operated electrically. The design of the seat also has a reclining angle. The car has two 12-inch wide-screen digital displays.
The Ioniq 5 coming to Nepal will have a 58 kWh battery. It will take only 18 minutes to recharge 5 to 80 percent when charging the battery with a 350 kW charger. Within 5 minutes of charging, the EV provides a range of up to 100km.
Hyundai Alcazar
Laxmi Intercontinental is preparing to bring the first 7-seater SUV in Nepal as well. Hyundai's new SUV Alcazar, which is available in 6 and 7 seater options, is gaining success in the Indian market.
It inherits its design elements from its sibling, Creta. However, being a 7 seater SUV, the Alcazar arrives with a longer wheelbase and rear design.
However, the rear section of the Alcazar gets a redesigned tailgate with wider split taillights and bumper.
The SUV has also borrowed its interior from Creta. It continues to use the same 10.25-inch infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay as well as Android Auto.

As for engine and transmission, there are two engine options available- 2.0L Petrol and 1.5 L Diesel. The former delivers a power of 159 bhp and 192 Nm of torque while the latter delivers 115bhp power and 250 Nm of torque. There are both 6-speed AMT and Manual Gearing options available.
The SUV is expected to arrive at a starting price tag of Rs. 70 lakhs in Nepal.
2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio
The company is branding the new generation Celerio as a high mileage car launched by Maruti Suzuki as a B segment hatchback car. The Suzuki hatchback which recently made its debut in the Indian market is arriving soon in Nepal as well. As of reports, the new gen Celerio will launch here around early 2022.
The hatchback is based on Suzuki’s Heartect platform which also underpins other models like Wagon R. Compared to its predecessor, this one is larger, well-equipped, and more fuel-efficient as well.
The new Celerio is now powered by a new-gen K10C engine featuring DualJet technology and idle start/stop system. This engine is tuned well to provide a great highway mileage of up to 26km/l.
Under the hood, the hatchback gets a 1.0L 3-cylinder naturally aspirated engine unit delivering a peak power of 67bhp alongside a peak torque of 89Nm. As for gearing options, the standard option is a 5-speed manual while a 5-speed AMT transmission is optional.
It was launched in India at a starting price of INR 4.99 lakhs while in Nepal, the new generation Celerio is likely to start from Rs. 26 lakhs.
Mahindra XUV700
Mahindra’s latest flagship offering- XUV700 is also making its debut soon in Nepal. The premium Mahindra SUV has been able to gather tons of fans since its early release in India.
The Mahindra XUV700 gets two options - 2.0L Turbo Petrol and 2.2L Turbo diesel. The former delivers 200bhp/380Nm power and torque while the latter generates 185bhp/450Nm power torque. As for the transmission, the SUV gets both, six-speed manual and automatic gear options.
The flagship SUV has arrived in optional All-Wheel Drive (AWD) specs as well. As for seating capacity too, there are two options available: 5 and 7. There are two different series of SUVs available.
Coming on to the features, the MX series gets an 8-inch Infotainment system with Android Auto, a 7-inch instrument cluster, Smart Door handles, steering mounted switches, Power Adjustable ORVMs with turn indicator, and R17 steel wheels.
On the other hand, the AX3 comes with a little more premium features such as a dual HD 10.25-inch infotainment system and instrument cluster, built-in Alexa, Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, LED DRLs, 6 speakers and Sound Staging, and so on.
Similarly, the AX5 gets a sunroof, curtain airbags, LED ClearView headlamps, R17 Diamond cut alloy wheels, and more.
Safety features in the SUV include up to 7 airbags, a 360-degree camera, an electronic parking brake, ADAS (Advanced Driver Assist System) with radar, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot detection, drowsiness detection system, and so on.
Expected Price in Nepal: around Rs. 90 lakhs.
