There is a tough competition between two popular electric cars in Nepal, i.e. the BYD M3 and the Peugeot Partner Tepee. In terms of pricing, BYD has more benefits compared to Peugeot as it comes with a huge gap on the pricing, however when it comes to branding, Peugeot rests at the top.
BYD is a Chinese automaker while Peugeot is a French automobile company. Peugeot is a very much well-known brand in the international market when it comes to manufacturing all types of car while BYD has a good name for the production of electric vehicles and batteries.
Symex Inc. is the sole distributor for BYD vehicles in Nepal while Shangrila Motors looks after the distribution of Peugeot cars in the Nepali market.
Additionally, the Peugeot Partner Tepee is a five-seater vehicle while the BYD M-3 has an option for both 5 as well as 7 seater capacity. Particularly, BYD has given special attention to the space in the vehicle for more passengers while Peugeot has targeted both the passengers as well as luggage space as there is enough space for luggage in the vehicle.
More on, when it comes to the pricing of the vehicle, the Peugeot Partner Tepee comes with a price tag of Rs. 60,00,000/- in Nepal while the BYD M-3 holds a price tag of Rs.45,00,000/-. In terms of pricing, the BYD M-3 is Rs.15,00,000/- lesser than the Peugeot Partner Tepee.
Furthermore, highlighting on the powerhouse of both the vehicles, i.e. their battery and motor. The Peugeot Partner Tepee is integrated with a 22.5kWh capacity lithium-ion battery along with a 49kW motor. The company claims the car to provide a mileage of 170km on a single full charge.
On the other hand, the BYD M-3 is provided with a 50.3kWh battery which produces zero emissions and features 310km driving range on a single charge, as per claimed by the firm. The vehicle has a top speed of 130km/hr.
Therefore, when it comes to battery, motor, and range, the BYD M-3 is far more ahead of the Peugeot Partner Tepee.
Peugeot had first launched the Partner Tepee in the year 2017 while the BYD M-3 was first launched in the year 2014. As electric cars are now seen to be imported in Nepal at a high pace along with the increasing customer demand, it can somewhat be confirmed that there is going to be a competition of EVs in the Nepali market in near future.
