Apple unveiled many new products during its Far Out event, including the Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch Ultra, and the latest iPhone 14 series. The key elements you need to be aware of if you want to compare the iPhone 14 Pro to the iPhone 13 Pro are listed below, along with iPhone 14 Pro specs and features.
Introduction
The iPhone 14 initially has a similar appearance to the iPhone 13. Still, it has several noticeable improvements, such as a more significant and brighter primary camera sensor and safety features like Emergency SOS via satellite and Crash Detection. The iPhone 13, however, is still among the best smartphones available today despite being reduced in price.
The design of the iPhone 14 Pro is the same, with two minor exceptions: a bigger screen with smaller bezels around it and a new pill-shaped cutout in replacement of the distinctive notch. Additionally, you will receive a newly developed, faster Apple A16 chip, faster memory, and a primary camera sensor with a higher resolution.
Let's explore the newly added features and specifications for the iPhone 14 Pro models.
Design and Display
The iPhone 14 Pro maintains the distinctive design features from the previous two models, including a flat body, a stainless steel body, and a matte back surface. Practically speaking, the 14 Pro and 13 Pro use the Lightning connector and have the same IP68 water and dust protection.
The front of the iPhone 14 Pro has undergone the most visible modification, losing the notch in favor of a more hidden Face ID technology in the shape of a pill.
The iPhone 14 Pro has a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display. This HDR display supports Apple's ProMotion technology, with adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz. The iPhone 14 Pro, on the other hand, has an always-on display, which was a much-anticipated feature. Unfortunately, the iPhone 13 Pro lacks this capability.
Performance
The A16 Bionic chip from Apple is used in the iPhone 14 Pro. Although a minor performance bump is anticipated, this new processor is an improvement over the Apple A15.
While the RAM remains at 6GB, Apple is said to be using faster LPDDR5 memory, an advance over the LPDDR4X featured in the previous model. In addition, the A16 Bionic is a 4nm chip with a 6-core CPU, 5-core GPU, and 16 billion transistors for speed and efficiency.
The iPhone 14 Pro and 13 Pro will be powered by the most recent iOS 16 operating system. It will be included with the 14 Pro out of the box, and the 13 Pro will get it as a later update.
Camera
A 48MP primary camera with second-generation sensor-shift optical image stabilization is featured on the iPhone 14 Pro. A 12MP ultrawide lens with /2.2 aperture and 120° FoV is also included, as well as a 12MP telephoto lens with up to 6x optical zoom range and 15x digital zoom. The 14 Pro also has a 12MP TrueDepth Selfie camera with Autofocus with Focus Pixels.
Additionally, the software has been improved. The maximum resolution and frame rate it now supports are 4K and 30fps as well as 24 frames per second is now an option as well. Better performance in low light is made possible by the new Photonic Engine. In terms of video, there are new cinematic options and an improved action mode for stabilization (no gimbal needed).
Battery
The iPhone 14 is also powered by a lithium-ion battery that enables 15W MagSafe Wireless Charging, 7.5W Qi Wireless Charging, and 20W Rapid Charging. Apple also states that its products can play audio for up to 75 hours and 23 hours of video playback.
