The Cupertino-based tech company, Apple, enjoyed a strong quarter in China. According to a report by Counterpoint Research, the American tech giants took 21.7% of the Chinese market share in Q4 2021. Apple’s iPhone 13 dominated the premium segment in China because of its comparatively lower launch price. Out of all the smartphones shipped in the quarter, more than one-fifth were iPhones. If we recall, in the last month of 2021, Apple became the number one smartphone brand in China for the first time since December 2015.
The report also shows that China’s smartphone shipments dropped 11% YoY in Q4 2021. Despite the shipments being down, major OEMs like Xiaomi, Vivo, and Honor kept expanding their premium product portfolios.
