Apple was the front runner of the global 5G smartphone shipments in Q3 of 2021. According to the reports coming from Strategy Analytics, the Cupertino-based smartphone brand shipped the most 5G smartphones in the quarter, boosted by its 5G iPhone 13 series. Apple accounted for almost 25% of all global 5G smartphone shipments in Q3 2021.
Xiaomi led the global Android 5G smartphone shipments, but the reports claim that its shipments growth stalled in Q3 2021.
“Samsung’s resurgence blunted Xiaomi’s ability to grow in Europe in Q3 2021, while OPPO surged in China. Facing a combined one-two punch from Samsung outside of China and OPPO in China, Xiaomi saw demand for its 5G smartphones slow considerably in Q3 2021.” - Ken Hyers, Director at Strategy Analytics

On the other hand, Samsung continued to grow its share of 5G smartphone shipments and edged ahead of OPPO to become the second-largest Android 5G smartphone vendor globally. Analysts at Strategy Analytics believe that “The combination of leading technology such as foldable display smartphones and multiple 5G devices have made Samsung products, such as its premium Galaxy Z Flip 3, the S21 Ultra and its affordable A-series, the second-most popular brand of Android 5G smartphones globally in Q3 2021.”
Despite all the challenges faced by Honor, It was the fastest-growing Android 5G smartphone brand QoQ in Q3 2021. Honor rapidly gained its popularity in China after its split from Huawei to become an independent brand. Honor 50 5G, 50 Pro 5G, and 50 SE 5G were the company’s most popular 5G smartphones.
