Samsung has released its earnings reports for the fourth quarter of 2021 and the whole of last year. The Korean tech giant has reported 18 percent higher revenue year on year, as it saw improved sales in all divisions. Reporting an all-time high revenue of KRW 279.6 trillion (~$232.43 billion), Samsung saw an operating profit of KRW 51.63 billion (~$42.92 billion) in 2021.

Talking about Q4 2021, Samsung saw revenue of KRW 76.57 trillion (~$63.64 billion) and made an operating profit of KRW 13.87 trillion (~$11.52 billion). According to Samsung, the fourth-quarter revenue growth was driven mainly by the products like premium smartphones, including foldable phones (Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3), as well as TVs, and home appliances.

Samsung’s operating profit declined from the previous quarter due to a special bonus payment to employees, but it was higher compared to Q4 2020. The semiconductor division posted KRW 26.01 trillion (~$21.5 billion) in consolidated revenue and KRW 8.84 trillion (~$7.3 billion) in operating profit in Q4 2021.
Earnings from Samsung’s Memory division decreased from the previous quarter due to a fall in prices. The Display Panel division saw earnings continue to improve for mobile panels, while losses in large panels widened due to price declines in LCDs and costs related to QD displays.

In 2022, Samsung will focus on improving its advanced process yield to improve its supply stability. Also, the Company will continue technical leadership through mass production of the 1st generation GAA process in the first half of 2022. Even though Samsung expects market uncertainties to remain in 2022, the company still hopes to continue growing.
