Huawei has finally unveiled its first flip foldable smartphone called the Huawei P50 Pocket. The smartphone brings a Sna[dragon 888 processor, a 120Hz foldable display, and a premium design. In this post, we’ll go through the specifications, features, availability, and the expected price of the Huawei P50 Pocket in Nepal.

Design and Display

Huawei P50 Pocket has a clamshell foldable design with Huawei patented hinge mechanism that has no visible gap when closed. It has an advanced 3D micro sculpted design on the back panel, which is similar to the Huawei P50 series. The smartphone comes in White, Black, and a Premium Gold color option. It measures 15.2mm thick when folded and is 7.2mm thin while unfolded.

In terms of display, the P50 Pocket features a 6.9-inch OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 300Hz touch sampling rate. There’s also a secondary 1.04-inch OLED display placed just below the rear camera module. It supports a 60Hz refresh rate, 120Hz touch sampling rate, and has its own service widgets for first and third-party apps.

Performance

Huawei P50 Pocket is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor but is limited to 4G connectivity. It comes with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. The software side is covered by EMUI 12 based on HarmonyOS 2.0.

Camera

For optics, the triple rear camera setup consists of a 40MP True Chroma camera, alongside a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 32MP Ultra Spectrum camera that is paired with a 10 channel Multi-Spectrum sensor and an Ultra Spectrum illuminator. The Ultra Spectrum camera offers improved image reproduction and capture minute details that help in producing clearer images even in the dark. There’s also a 10MP selfie camera housed in the punch-hole notch of the main display.

Battery and Others

Huawei P50 Pocket packs a 4000mAh battery with support for 40-watt fast charging. There’s both facial recognition and fingerprint unlock for biometrics. Connectivity options on the smartphone include 4G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and a USB Type-C port.

Huawei P50 Pocket Price and Availability

Huawei P50 Pocket price in China starts at CNY 8,988 for the base 8GB RAM + 256GB storage model. The smartphone will arrive in the global market, but there’s no confirmation on when. If the device launches here in Nepal, we expect the price to start around Rs.1,75,000.
