With all the drama of Huawei with the US administration which made the OEM fall in the trade blacklist of the US administration, the only thing letting Huawei use the MIUI based on Android was the temporary general license applied by google in order to keep the older Huawei phones compatible with its Android updates.
As the license already expired back on August 13, 2020, many smartphones of Huawei were without Google Mobile Services (GMS). Huawei took it on their own and now have finally announced their own software called Harmony which will now roll-out on their smartphones starting from April.
Mate X2 will be the first recipient of the HarmonyOS which will replace the device current EMUI which didn’t have the Google Mobile Services (GMS). Similarly, the upcoming P50 series of Huawei will be the first devices that the company will ship with the new OS out of the box.
How the company implements the new software update on the previous devices will be interesting to see and also the way the new HarmonyOS will compare with the other OS will be interesting to analyze.
