Qualcomm has announced two new chipsets - Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 and Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3 for Windows on ARM at its 2021 Snapdragon Summit. Among the two, Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 is the flagship offering of Qualcomm, while the Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3 is designed for entry-level Windows laptops and Chromebooks. Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 Overview
Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 is the world’s first 5nm chipset for Windows computers. Qualcomm claims that the processor provides up to 85% faster CPU and up to 60% faster GPU performance than its predecessor 8cx Gen 2. It uses Qualcomm’s Kyro CPU and Adreno GPU.
The AI engine here is claimed to deliver over 29 TOPS of acceleration, which is three times higher than the previous chip. Along with all the performance improvements, the chipset is also claimed to be efficient and supports up to 25+ hours on a single charge, which is up to 2X as long as your current PC.

For connectivity, the chipset offers Snapdragon X65, X55, or X62 5G modems with cellular speeds of up to 10 Gbps, up to 7.5 Gbps, and up to 4.4 Gbps respectively. There is also support for Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, and the latest Wi-Fi 6E.
The Snapdragon 8x Gen 3 also brings video and audio experiences. It supports up to 4K HDR video up to 24 megapixels and the latest generation 3A (Autofocus, Auto White Balance, and Auto Exposure).
For audio, the chipset features Hi-Fi audio, AI accelerated Echo-cancellation, and noise suppression (ECNS) to ensure an improved video conferencing experience.

Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3 Overview
Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3 is built on a 6 nm process and is designed for entry-level Windows laptops and Chromebooks. It brings 60% faster CPU and 70% faster GPU compared to its predecessor 7c Gen 2.
The AI engine here is claimed to offer 6.5 TOPS of AI compute power (up from 5 TOPS) and is handled by the Qualcomm AI Engine.
The chipset also brings 5G connectivity to entry-level PCs with an integrated Snapdragon X53 modem. It can offer up to 3.7 Gbps download speeds. Similarly, the 7c+ Gen 3 also supports Wi-Fi 6E with up to 2.9 Gbps download speeds.
