China unveils ‘Brain-Talker’ | A chip that can read your mind

No, it’s not a rumor anymore, China has finally built an amazing chip named the ‘Brain Talker’, which in fact has human mind-reading capabilities. It enables users to control computers assisted by brain signals.

This unbelievable Brain-Computer Codec Chip(BC3) has been designed by scientists at China Electronics Corporation along with Tianjin University while it was recently unveiled last month at World Intelligence Congress held in North China.

The researchers have made this BC3 chip with an aim to enhance the capabilities of Brain-Computer interface. The chip can decode the mental intent of the person via neural electric signals in the brain without the assist of body’s neuro-muscular pathways.

Well, mind-controlling technology is actually not an eccentric concept for today as in 2017, Netflix had announced that it had designed a headband that had the ability to channel user’s thoughts while selecting the movies and shows in the Netflix website. That was actually a great initiative by Netflix.

The new Brain Talker chip also somewhat inherits the same idea and mechanism as of the Netflix headband.

It is actually a dream come true in the world of technology for being able to design such a quirky device. A device that can be operated without movement or voice control was actually a dream during the ’90s or even the early '2000s.

While the most crucial facet is its top-level usage for disabled people who are unable to operate regular tech devices. For instance, a person in a wheelchair can be able to move it without movement of any hands or legs and even voice control. Isn’t that absolutely amazing?

Daily Mail says, “The brain decoding chip works by picking out minor neural electrical signals within the cerebral cortex and rapidly translate them into a form that the computer can understand.”

Dong Ming, dean of Tianjin University’s Academy of Medical Engineering and Translational Medicine, said, “This brain-computer codec chip has the ability to discriminate minor neural electrical signals and decode their information efficiently, which can greatly enhance the speed and accuracy of brain-computer interfaces.”

He added, “The Brain Talker chip advances BCI technology allowing it to become more portable, wearable, and accessible to the general public.”

Talking of the future of this amazing device, it can be used for a variety of purposes such as for physically disable people, gaming, designing medical equipment and the list goes so on.
