iPhone 13 Overview

Design and Display

iPhone 13 features a 6.1-inch super Retina XDR OLED panel that is 28% brighter than its predecessor. It has a daytime brightness of 800 nits and a whopping 1200 nits of peak HDR brightness. The panels also support Dolby Vision, HDR10, 60Hz refresh rate, and HLG standards.

In terms of design, the device looks similar to the iPhone 12, but the notch has gotten 20% smaller. It has the same Ceramic Shield front, glass back, aluminum frames, and IP68 rating for dust/water resistance.

Performance

Moving on to the processor, iPhone 13 feature the A15 Bionic with a four-core GPU, claimed to be faster and more power-efficient than last year’s A14 Bionic chip. This 5nm chip has a 6 core CPU with two high-performance and four new high-efficiency cores. You get up to 512GB of internal storage with the smartphone.

On the software side, the device boots on iOS 15. Further, it is fueled by a 3240mAh battery with support for 20W fast charging, 7.5W Qi Wireless Charging, and 15W MagSafe Wireless charging.

Camera and Others

For optics, the base iPhone 13 features a 12-megapixel lens with an f/1.6 aperture and sensor-shift stabilization that Apple introduced last year on the 12 Pro Max. The new 12-megapixel ultrawide secondary camera features a faster f/2.4 lens and 120-degree field of view. Upfront is a 12-megapixel TrueDepth selfie camera that supports the Centre Stage feature. Apple has also added a new cinematic mode for videos that features a technique called rack focus that intelligently shifts focus when people enter the frame or glance away from the camera.

The device supports more 5G bands and carriers for better international 5G experiences than the iPhone 12 series. Connectivity options include WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC, and a Lightning port.
