Let's be honest here! Gionee didn't sell too many Gionee A1 and Gionee A1 Lite in Nepal. The sales weren't all that good and the promotions that they did just didn't pay off. To be more competitive in the market, the company is ready to launch a new smartphone to the market, the Gionee M7 Power.
Gionee is creating a lot of hype for the Gionee M7 Power. Even when the phone has not launched in Nepal, their Facebook page is promoting nothing but the M7 Power.
Gionee M7 Power is one of the very few Gionee phones to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon processors. Sadly though, the company has decided to stick in an entry-level SoC, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 435.
And interestingly enough, the company has put in a 4GB RAM on the phone. I would have liked it more if the company had put in 3GB of RAM and a better processor. The Gionee M7 Power is also going to be the first Gionee phone to enter Nepal with a 18:9 display. Also, the bezels of the phone are narrowed down on all the four corners. But again, the phone comes with only 720x1440p HD+ Display which is really disappointing.
The Gionee M7 Power comes with a 13MP Rear Camera and an 8MP front camera. The camera definitely isn't the highlight of the phone. Also, unlike many of the mid-range phones that are out right now, the M7 Power misses out on the dual-camera lens.
The only thing that is impressive about the Gionee M7 Power has to be its monstrous battery. The phone is powered by a 5000mAh battery which will easily get you through 2 days on a single charge. And thanks to the power efficient Snapdragon 435 SoC, the phone will go on for a very long time. That's not the only thing that is cool about the M7 Power. The battery can also be used to charge other phones/devices! It will be cool to let your friends charge their phone using yours!
From what I can see, Gionee is a brand who makes money selling phones using marketing and promotion rather than making a better product. The M7 Power is another example of that. If the phone is to be priced in the neighbourhood of Rs.30,000, it's a big no from my side.
