Ford Mustang Mach-E sets a new world record for the most efficient EV

The all-new Ford Mustang Mach-E has recently set a Guinness World Record for the highest efficiency in an electric car. It averaged 10.52km per kWh on a 1,352km route between John o’ Groats and Land’s End.

New World Record details

The Ford Mustang Mach-E was driven by BBC transport correspondents Paul Clifton, Fergal McGrath, and Kein Brooker.

For the testing, the EV was set off on 3 July by the trio at night which took around a trip of 27 hours to complete. The car was at an average speed of 50km/hr. They stopped only twice to charge at two different stations: BP Pulse station in Wigan, Lancashire, and a second time at Cullompton, Devon. In these stations, the EV was charged for just around 45 minutes.

The team said, “The Ford Mustang Mach-E’s range and efficiency make it an everyday car for tackling unpredictable journey patterns. We did a full day’s testing totaling 250 miles and still had 45 percent battery charge on our return.”

The range seems to be a big hassle when it comes to consumers looking for a new electric car, however, the new Ford Mustang Mach-E has broken the barrier.

Ford Mustang Mach E’s rear-wheel-drive Extended Range variant was used in the testing procedure. This one adopts an 88kWh battery with a claimed range of 800km that was proven yesterday. The single electric motor used in the EV churns out a massive horsepower of 289bhp alongside a peak torque of 416Nm.
