Web QnA platform Yahoo Answers shutting down on May 4th

Yahoo on the home page of Yahoo Answers has officially announced that they are shutting down the Q&A platform on May 4th. Yahoo Answers is one of the longest-running Q&A platforms in the history of the internet. Yahoo Answers was in operation since 2005 where people post queries related to anything and later you get the answer which sometimes is not that accurate and reliable.

The reason for shutting down Yahoo Answers read that the company is shifting the resources away from Yahoo Answers to focus on the products that better serve their members and delivers their promise of providing premium trusted content.

Yahoo Answers will not take any new submissions starting April 20th. The users of Yahoo Answers will have time until June 30 to request their data after June 30 any data of the users will be inaccessible. The list of data includes user’s questions, answers, and images. Users cannot download other user’s content. And finally, on May 4th Yahoo will put the curtain on Yahoo Answers.

Yahoo Answers once used to be an important part of Yahoo who is now a part of Verizon Media. Over the years Yahoo Answers has lost its popularity with the rise of platforms like Quora, Tettra, and many more. Also, these days Yahoo Answers is filled with questions related to conspiracy theories and introspective queries. The decision from Yahoo regarding shutting down Yahoo Answers seems the right one for the company moving forward.
