Xiaomi’s global smartphone shipments reach 190 million units in 2021 | Profits were up 70% YoY

Xiaomi was ranked No.1 in 14 countries
Xiaomi has published its earnings report for the year 2021. The Chinese tech company reported a revenue of 328.3 billion yuan ($51.6 billion) and saw a net profit of 22 billion yuan ($3.45 billion) during the year. Xiaomi saw a growth of 69.5% year-on-year in its net income, and its revenue was 33.5% high compared to 2020.
Out of its total 328.3 billion yuan ($51.6 billion) revenue, around 208.9 billion yuan ($32.8 billion) was all thanks to its smartphone business. Xiaomi shipped 190.3 million units of smartphones in 2021, an increase of 30.0% year-over-year. The premium smartphone segment saw a 160% improvement YoY, reaching 24 million units.

Xiaomi’s overseas revenue was 163.6 billion yuan ($25.7 billion), an increase of 33.7% compared to 2020. Its overseas revenue accounted for 49.8% of the total revenue. The growing popularity of Xioami worldwide can be seen by the fact that it was ranked No.1 in 14 countries and was among the top five in 62 countries globally.
Focusing on their “Smartphone × AIoT” strategy globally, the number of connected devices on Xiaomi’s AIoT platform reached 434 million, an increase of 33.6% year-over-year. Its revenue from the Internet of Things (IoT) and lifestyle products category also saw a 26.1% jump in revenue to 85 billion yuan ($13.3 billion). Similarly, the global monthly active users (MAU) of MIUI reached 508.9 million in 2021, a 28.4% increase YoY.
