Starting our list and arguably the most popular mobile game in Nepal at the moment is PUBG Mobile. Believe me when I tell you that I have seen people in their 50’s play this game. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) is an online multiplayer battle royale game developed and published by PUBG Corporation, a subsidiary of a South Korean video game company Bluehole. The game is based on previous mods that were created by Brendan "PlayerUnknown'' Greene. PUBG Mobile is a free-to-play game available in both Android and IOS which was released on February 9, 2018. The game accumulated 734 million downloads and grossed over $4.3 billion as of December 2020.
In this Battle Royale game, 100 players are dropped on an island and the goal is to scavenge for weapons and equipment and survive till the end defeating other players as the playable area shrinks in the map directing players into tighter areas to force encounters.
Pubg Mobile annually putting hundreds of thousands of dollars in their eSports tournaments make them popular among fans and many Nepali youths have made a living playing the game.

This free to-play-game is developed by TiMi Studios and published by Activision for Android and IOS. In many regions, the game was published by Garena, Tencent, and VNG Games. The game saw one of the largest mobile game launches in history, generating over US$480 million with 270 million downloads within a year.
In this multiplayer game, players can choose to play ranked or unranked matches in multiplayer mode. The multiplayer mode is like a basic first-person shooter, similar to Counter-Strike. Garena Free Fire
Peoples in Nepal seem to love battle royale games these days as this is our third battle royale on the list. Garena Free Fire is also a battle royale game that was developed by 111 Dots Studio and published by Garena for Android and IOS which was released on 30 September 2017. It became the most downloaded game of 2019 globally. Free Fire has set a record with over 80 million daily active users globally as of May 2020.
Garena Free Fire is a multiplayer online battle royale game played in a third-person perspective. 50 players are dropped on an island to scavenge for weapons and outlast all by defeating other players. Also, the playable area on the map shrinks forcing engagement as players are guided to small areas.
Free Fire also has its stamp on esports. In February 2021, Garena announced the return of the Free Fire World Series with a $2 million prize pool.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang
Fourth on our list of top 5, most popular mobile games in Nepal is the Mobile Legend: Bang Bang. It is a game developed and published by Moonton which was released in 2016. This multiplayer online battle arena game designed for mobile is immensely popular in the Southeast Asian regions but it seems to have found a place in the heart of consumers in the Nepali market.
In this multiplayer battle arena game two opposing teams consisting of five players each fight to reach and destroy the enemy base while defending their own base. Each player in the team can control a character known as a “Hero” which can be grouped into 6 different roles, Marksman, Assassin, Mage, Support, Fighter, and Tank. Currently, there are 103 Heroes characters in the live server players can choose from.
Annual Mobile Legends tournaments have been held in the Southeast Asian region. The first Mobile Legends World Championship, dubbed as M1 was held in 2019 where 16 teams from around the world battled it out for the prize pool of 250,000 USD.

The game is fantasy-themed where the player is a chief of a village. In this multiplayer game, players form communities called clans, train troops, and attack other players to earn resources. Players are responsible for building their own village. Clash of Clans lets players conjoin and create clans with a group of up to fifty people who can then join in clan wars together.
