While flying drones and capturing awesome clips could be a work of fun and excitement, while in case of Nepal, flying or operating drones is considered an illegal act.
But no need to worry because with flying permit and official papers, you can easily fly drones in Nepal.
In order to operate drones in Nepal, Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has set some rules and regulations which one should strongly follow. The rules that a drone operator in Nepal should follow are:
- At first, he/she should apply and receive permission from the CAAN department before the usage of drone.
- He/she should not fly drone in crowded or over populated areas.
- He/she should respect other’s privacy while flying drones as it may hamper some locals and they may report for it.
- Drones should only be flown during day time while it should also favor the weather conditions.
- Drones are restricted to fly near airports, any military installations or power plants.
Process to obtain drone flying permit
- At first, take permission letter from the municipality of the place where you want to operate the drone.
- After that, you need to take a recommendation letter from the CDO office which you can only acquire after the permission from municipality.
- Thirdly, you need to obtain permit from the police headquarter of the place you want to fly drone.
- Finally, after you acquire the security clearance letter and all the above mentioned documents, you need to submit them to the CAAN and get the permit for flying.
