In the context of Nepal, Xiaomi is the brand that has been popular among smartphone enthusiasts when it comes to budget smartphones. However, after the recent entry of Realme smartphones in the market, the brand has been a tough competitor to Xiaomi.
Xiaomi had recently launched the Redmi Note 8 in the Nepali market a few months ago while the device had been able to acquire positive feedback from the customers. And in this market where Xiaomi has highly been dominating the budget segment, Realme has recently unveiled its new competitor, the Realme 5i.
Both of these phones: Realme 5i and Redmi Note 8 are popular budget phones currently in the market. However, the Realme 5i is a little bit of a pricier side compared to the Note 8.

Realme has a bit tweaked the design of the new 5i compared to its other models 5 and 5s. However, the device still adopts the plastic body on the back and instead of the regular diamond-cut pattern Realme has used ‘SunRise Design’ which looks more interesting.

Performance
IN the AuTuTu test, the Realme 5i scores 170,480 points while the Redmi Note 8 receives 174,277 points. While in Geekbench 5 multi-core test, the Realme 5i and Redmi Note 8 got 1308 points and 1324 points respectively.
In terms of Gaming, the Realme 5i takes the lead as it comes with a lower-resolution display which consumes less power. However, the Redmi Note 8 is also not bad either. There are no heating issues seen in any of these phones. Likewise, in fingerprint recognition speed, Realme 5i rests at the peak as it has a quick fingerprint response than the Redmi Note 8.
Battery and Charging
Xiaomi has provided a 4000mAh battery on the Redmi Note 8 while Realme offers a massive 5,000mAh battery on the 5i. However, the Redmi Note 8 gets an 18W Fast Charger which won’t be receiving in the Realme 5i.

Connectivity and Ports
In terms of connectivity, both of these devices hold two -Nano-SIM slots with an extra slot for microSD cards. But in case of the charging port, Redmi Note 8 takes the lead as Note 8 gets USB Type-C port, unlike the 5i which still has a micro-USB port.
Other connectivity features such as dual-band Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth, FM Radio and other sensors are included in both these devices.
