The third quarter of 2021 proved to be yet another strong quarter for the PC market as it saw a growth of 8% year-over-year. According to the reports of Strategy Analytics, despite the shortage of components and supply constraints, the notebook PC market saw positive growth. However, the supply constraints and the increasing price of chipsets are expected to catch up with major vendors in the upcoming quarters.

Lenovo leads the global market with a 23% market share shipping 15.3 million units with 5% yearly growth. HP came second, shipping 14.3 million units and covering 21% of the market share, but its shipments declined by 5% compared to the same period last year.
Dell on the other hand saw a massive 50% growth by shipping 12.2 million units. Covering 18% of the global market the company sits comfortably in the third spot.

Tech giant Apple saw a 10% growth in its shipments and covered 10% of the market share. Apple’s macOS business set a record quarter in company history with shipments of more than 6.5 million MacBooks in the September quarter.
Rounding up the top 5 list was Asus with an 8% market share. Asus shipments grew to 5.1 million units at a 10% growth rate year-on-year in Q3 2021.
Strategy Analytics credits employees returning to in-person work and companies looking for ways to boost productivity to be the major contributing factor in overall PC market growth.
