Motorola has unveiled its first phone in partnership with UK-based rugged phone maker Bullit Group, the Motorola Defy 2021. What makes Motorola Defy different from other smartphones is the attribute of the smartphone to work under extreme conditions. Motorola claims that the smartphone can operate in temperatures ranging from -ve 25°C to +ve 55°C and is drop-resistant from up to 6 feet on a concrete floor.

Motorola Defy is priced at EUR 329 for the 4/64GB variant in the European market. 


Motorola Defy Overview

 

Motorola Defy comes with a 6.5-inch IPS display with HD+ resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. The phone comes in a rugged plastic body and glass front protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. Motorola claims that the smartphone can operate in temperatures ranging from -ve 25°C to +ve 55°C. It is also advertised that the device is drop-resistant from up to 6 feet and is usable with wet fingers. Furthermore, the Motorola Defy is IP68 certified dust/water-resistant and is washable with soaps and mild disinfectants. 

 

 

Under its rugged body, Motorola Defy has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 processor. This 11nm processor is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage which can be upgraded using a microSD card. The device operates on Android 10 and is upgradable to Android 11.

Motorola Defy has a triple camera setup at the back that consists of a 48MP primary sensor, and two 2MP macro and depth sensors. Upfront is an 8MP selfie camera on the water-drop notch of the display. Both the front and back camera system is capable of taking 1080p videos at 30fps. 

 


 

Powering the device is a 5000mAh battery that supports 20-watt fast charging. Both the charging and 3.5mm headphone ports are waterproof. For security, the smartphone has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Furthermore, Motorola Defy uses dual-band WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0 for wireless connectivity.
