Microsoft announces Surface Duo 2 with Snapdragon 888 and 90Hz AMOLED display

Microsoft has announced the second-gen Surface Duo 2. This Android-powered folding phone of Microsoft has the same design as the first-gen Surface Duo but brings a lot of improvements and upgrades. Microsoft Surface Duo 2 Overview

Microsoft Surface Duo 2 features two 5.8-inch AMOLED displays and measures an 8.3-inch diagonally when combined. The display supports HDR, 90Hz adaptive refresh rate, has 800 nits of peak brightness, and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. Microsoft has slightly curved the inner edges of the display. The curved edges make a little portion of the screen visible while folded, making it a notifications panel.

Moving on to the processor, the latest Surface Duo comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset. It is paired with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and gives the option for up to 512GB of onboard storage. The device runs on Android 11 out of the box.

Microsoft has significantly upgraded the camera section of the Surface Duo 2. It has a triple camera setup at the back, compared to a single camera on the OG Surface Duo. The camera setup consists of a 12-megapixel main sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with 2X optical zoom and OIS, and a 16-megapixel ultrawide sensor with a 110-degree field of view. There is also a 12-megapixel selfie camera with dual-led flash.

Powering the device is a 4449mAh battery that supports 23-watt fast charging. Microsoft claims that the device provides up to 15.5 hours of Local Video Playback and up to 28 hours of Talk Time. There is support for a new Surface Slim Pen 2, which magnetically attaches to the side of the device for charging. Connectivity options on the device include 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, GPS, and USB-C port.
