MediaTek has unveiled its Helio G96 and Helio G88 SoC. The chipsets bring some upgrades to their predecessors Helio G95 and Helio G85. These chips are said to provide display and photography upgrades and probably are destined for budget midrange smartphones.

MediaTek Helio G96
The Helio G96 features the same pair of Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.05 GHz and six A55 cores as the G95. its GPU is a Mali-G57 MC, which is a downgrade from the G76 MC4 found in G95. Major upgrades come in the camera and display department of the chip. Helio G96 supports a 120Hz display at up to 1080p+ resolution, upgrade from 90Hz at 1080p+ in the G95. Its camera resolution maxes out at 108MP and can take up to 4K videos at 30fps.
MediaTek Helio G96 now has support for a faster Cat 13 downlink LTE compared to its predecessor. Also, the chipset gets a faster UFS 2.2 storage and a newer Bluetooth 5.2.

MediaTek Helio G88
MediaTek Helio G88 also gets improvements on the display and camera, compared to its predecessor G85. it supports a 90Hz display at up to 1080p+ resolution, while G85 maxed out at 780p+. The camera resolution maxes out at 64MP, up from 48MP on the Helio G85.
Apart from these changes, Helio G88 features the same pair of Cortex-A75 cores running at 2.0 GHz and six A55 cores. LTE modem, RAM, and Storage also remain unchanged.
