Google announces Pixel 5a 5G with Snapdragon 765G and IP67 water and dust resistance

Google has finally launched the Pixel 5a 5G. The smartphone is a mild update to the last year’s Pixel 4a 5G. It brings a bigger battery, a new metal unibody with an IP67 rating for water resistance, and a $50 cheaper introductory price than the Pixel 4a 5G. Here, we will go through the specifications, features, availability, and the expected price of the Pixel 5a 5G in Nepal.

Apart from some minor changes, the Pixel 5a 5G is identical to the Pixel 4a. It costs $449 for the sole 6/128GB variant, which as mentioned above is $50 cheaper than the introductory price of Pixel 4a.

Pixel 5a 5G Overview

Pixel 5a 5G comes with a slightly bigger 6.34-inch OLED display but has the same 60Hz refresh rate as the Pixel 4a. It has a new metal unibody with an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance. It measures 7.6mm thick, weighs 183 grams, and has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on the display.

Google has gone with the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor that was in the Pixel 4a. It has a sole configuration of 6GB LPDDR4X RAM with 128GB storage. The device ships with Android 11 and is backed by Google’s three-year OS and security update policy.

Pixel 5a 5G features a dual-camera setup at the back and a punch-hole cutout on the top left for an 8MP selfie camera. The camera system sees no upgrade, as it features the same 12MP main sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) accompanied by a 16-megapixel ultrawide.

Compared to the Pixel 4a, the 5a gets a bigger 4680mAh battery but has the same 18-watt fast charging. Furthermore, It has a 3.5mm headphone jack, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a new Mostly Black color that has a slight green cast.
