Is Apple working on self-driving technology? Future of iCars

In a recent interview with the New York Times, Apple CEO Tim Book discussed that the tech giant is currently looking upon the future of iCars with Artificial Intelligence.  

As top tech companies have rapidly started to broaden their product line-up by entering the auto market, Apple is more serious about it. In the podcast interview with New York Times, CEO Cook said, “An autonomous car is a robot and so there are a lot of things you can do with autonomy; we will see what Apple does.” This statement by the Apple CEO certainly pointed out the fact that the iPhone maker is certainly working on self-driving/autonomous technology integrated iCars for the future.

On the other hand, two other top automakers Nissan and Hyundai in February had denied the fact or reports of potential alliances with Apple on self-driving vehicles

More on, throughout the talk, CEO Cook also made an honorable mention to America-based EV giant Tesla about with furious lead in the electric mobility arena. “Tesla has done an unbelievable job of not only establishing the lead but keeping the lead for such a prolonged period of time in the electric vehicle space.” Cook said.  

 

Is Apple producing an autonomous car any time soon? 

Apple’s own Project Titan is working on an autonomous vehicle system for several years now. However, the tech giant has kept this matter secret. And from the interview with the CEO, we can certainly discern that Apple has kept an ‘autonomous driving system’ at its core plan for the future.

Besides, the interviewer also touched on the matters of the ongoing clash between Apple and Facebook along with Fortnite creator Epic Games regarding restrictions of the App Store. However, the trillion-dollar company defended it as the integral step to protect Apple ecosystem from snooping, hacking or other threats.
