Bajaj Chetak C2501 and C3503: Two New Electric Scooters Coming to Nepal at NAIMA 2026 Expo

Bajaj is reportedly coming to the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026 with not one but two new Chetak models. If the rumors hold, August could be a turning point for the electric two-wheeler segment in Nepal.

A Lineup Gap Bajaj Is Finally Filling

For a while now, Bajaj's electric presence in Nepal has rested on a single pillar: the Chetak 3501, priced at Rs 3.24 lakh and sitting comfortably in the premium segment. It's a capable machine. But one scooter does not make a lineup, especially when the EV market is expanding fast and buyers at different price points are actively looking for options.

That's the gap the Chetak C2501 and C3503 are reportedly positioned to address. The two models are expected to debut at the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026 in August, though Bajaj Nepal has not officially confirmed specifications, pricing, or launch dates for either.

The C2501: Built for the Daily Commuter

The Chetak C2501 looks like Bajaj's attempt to be practical. It's reportedly coming with a 2.5 kWh battery pack and an IDC-certified range of 113 km on a single charge. Top speed is expected to sit at 60 km/h. Charging time? Around four hours for a full top-up.

None of that is going to win drag races, but that's not the point. For someone navigating Kathmandu's stop-and-go traffic five days a week, 113 km of range with an overnight charge is perfectly workable. The C2501 appears to be engineered around real-world urban use rather than spec-sheet bragging rights, and that kind of honesty in product positioning is actually refreshing.

The critical question, of course, is price. If Bajaj gets the number right, this could become the go-to entry point for first-time EV buyers in Nepal.

The C3503: A Step Up Without Reinventing the Wheel

The Chetak C3503 targets buyers who want more. It's expected to carry a 3.5 kWh battery with a claimed IDC range of 153 km, putting it on par with the existing Chetak 3501 in terms of range capability. What sets it apart from the C2501 is the addition of a digital instrument display and a connected features suite catering to riders who want their scooter to do more than just move them from point A to point B.

At this stage, the specifications are still unconfirmed, and comparing it directly to the 3501 is premature. But the 153 km range number is notable: it suggests Bajaj isn't positioning the C3503 as a replacement for the 3501, but as a differently packaged option within a similar performance tier.

What the Existing Chetak 3501 Already Offers

To understand where these two new models might slot in, it helps to look at what the Chetak 3501 currently brings to the table. At Rs 3.24 lakh, it offers 153 km of IDC-certified range, a 5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity, and 35 litres of under-seat storage. It also packs connected safety features including geo-fencing, accident detection, and anti-theft protection.

That's a meaningful package. The 3501 has established Bajaj as a serious player in Nepal's premium EV segment, not just a brand lending its name to the space.

Why This Matters Right Now

Nepal's electric vehicle market is growing, and the competition is no longer theoretical. Buyers have more choices than they did two years ago, which means any brand sitting at a single price point is leaving buyers on the table.

Two new Chetak models would give Bajaj a proper three-tier approach: an accessible entry model in the C2501, a mid-to-premium option in the C3503, and the established 3501 anchoring the top. That's how you compete across a market, not just within a single segment.

The NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026 in August should clarify a lot. Pricing will be the real test. Bajaj has the reputation and the technology. Whether it has the pricing discipline to make the C2501 genuinely accessible and the C3503 genuinely compelling is the question the market will be watching.
