South Korean automobile giant Hyundai has more than half a dozen hybrid and electric cars in its line-up. The company has recently launched a new hybrid car with Sonata solar panel connected with it. The solar panel is connected with the roof of the car.
This new hybrid model by Hyundai runs entirely with solar energy. A battery is integrated with the car which is also charged using solar energy. According to Hyundai, the solar panel battery connected to the car could be charged up to 60% only using solar technology. The vehicle can increase the travel distance by 1,300km per year if charged six hours per day.

In a recent statement by Heui Won Yang, Head of Hyundai Motor Group&rsquo;s Body Tech Unit, he stated that: &ldquo;The new technology has allowed its customers to &lsquo;actively tackle&rsquo; issues related to emission, adding that the business hoped to expand the technology to vehicles with traditional internal combustion engines.&rdquo;
Hyundai Sonata Hybrid cars are currently only sold in Korea. The car has not been exported to other countries than Korea yet. The Sonata Hybrid is Hyundai&rsquo;s first car to adopt solar panels.
The idea of integrating solar panels in the vehicles is not a new facet while driving of solar panel powered cars is neither restricted for land-based transports.
