Google has officially provided an early look at its upcoming Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. The new smartphones have a completely new camera design, and the company says it will feature a new custom Tensor processor.
Google Tensor SoC
The major highlight of the announcement was the custom Tensor SoC, named after the Tensor Processing Units (TPU) Google uses in its data centers. According to Google, Tensor builds off of their 2 decades of computing experience and is the biggest innovation in Pixel to date. It will feature a new security core and Titan M2, which the company claims will provide the Pixel 6 with the most layers of hardware security in any phone. Apart from this, Tensor SoC does not have any confirmed specs regarding the CPU, GPU, and 5G modem.
Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro Specifications
Google only shared a few specifications about the two Pixels devices. According to Google, the Pixel 6 Pro will have a 6.7-inch QHD+ curved display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Whereas the vanilla Pixel 6 will have a flat 6.4-inch FHD+ screen with a 90Hz refresh rate.
Both the devices feature a large camera bar that covers the full width of the phones and a single punch hole camera at the front. Google will ship both the Pixel devices with Android 12 pre-installed and will debut this fall.
