Introduction

Apple’s iPhone 14 series introduced us to the iPhone 14 Plus. It is a bigger version of the iPhone 14 with all specs apart from the display and battery size being identical to the vanilla iPhone 14. Moreover, the iPhone 14 Plus is a replacement for Apple’s Mini series, as the iPhone 13 Mini had a poor market performance last year.

A low-priced, big-screen iPhone sounds like a great deal. However, recent reports suggest that the iPhone 14 Plus is off to a rough start. In fact, reports suggest that Apple has cut off the production of the iPhone 14 Plus by a significant margin.

Apple Cuts iPhone 14 Plus Production

According to a report of The Information, Apple’s supply chain has confirmed that the company is cutting production of the iPhone 14 Plus.

The report reads that “Apple has told at least one manufacturer in China to immediately halt production of iPhone 14 Plus components.” Besides, two Apple suppliers in China are also lowering their production by 70% and 90%. It looks like Apple is reevaluating the demand for the iPhone 14 Plus.

On the other hand, suppliers have instructions to ramp up the production of iPhone 14 Pro series components.

Reasons Behind iPhone 14 Plus Underwhelming Market Performance

Many believe the late arrival of the iPhone 14 Plus in the market to be one of the reasons behind its slow start. Another possible factor is 14 Plus’s pricing.

Compared to the vanilla 14, the 14 Plus is a great deal as you get a bigger display and battery for 100 more dollars. However, the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max, at $100 and $200 more, provide much more upgrades to the users.
