The government has imposed a development tax of Rs. 10 per liter on petrol and diesel. Earlier, a development tax of Rs. 5 per liter was imposed in these fuels while now the tax has been doubled to Rs.10.
Speaking at a regular press conference held at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology on Thursday, the spokesperson of the government and Finance Minister Yuvraj Khatiwada had revealed this information.

Previously, the government had been levying a tax of Rs. 5 per liter on petroleum products for the construction of Budhi Gandaki Hydropower project while the tax has now been raised to Rs. 10 per liter. The cabinet meeting held on 12th of Falgun had decided to levy additional development tax on petroleum products.
