2021 Volkswagen Polo GTI Facelift design unveiled amidst its official launch

Highlights 

• The official launch for the new Polo GTI will take place at the end of June 2021 

• This one gets optimized power feature with refinished design 

• Might rival the likes of Skoda Octavia 

 

German carmaker, Volkswagen has recently given us a peek of its upcoming 2021 Polo GTI facelift. This one will be the premium version along its product line. To ease the wait for the car’s official launch on June 2021, the carmaker has released the design sketch of the hatchback.  

2021 VW Polo GTI Facelift 

The new 2021 Polo GTI facelift is labeled as being ‘dynamic, sharper and power-packed'. Alike its older sibling Golf GTI, this one is also getting LED daytime running lights embedded into the honeycomb air intakes up front. The red strip above the light bar is also what the carmaker has inherited from the Golf GTI.  

Moreover, this one will rest above the top of other trims—Polo, Life, and R-Line range.

Powertrain? 

In terms of powertrain, the 2021 Volkswagen Polo GTI is expected to continue the 2.0L, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine churning out a horsepower of 200bhp alongside a peak torque of 320Nm. The current Polo GTI offers a six-speed DSG automatic gearbox option while it can attain a speed of 0-100km/hr within just 6.7 seconds.

In addition, this one has a top speed of 237km/hr. Although the engine features on the hatchback haven’t been confirmed, the 2021 version is expected to a slightly retuned engine followed by some upgrades in chassis and brakes as well.  

 

Launch Date? 

The new 2021 Volkswagen Polo GTI is expected to make its debut by the end of June 2021 in the global market. However, the facelift has chances of its presence in the Indian market too as we could discern the first-generation Polo GTI in India back in 2016.  

The new-generation Polo GTI hatchback has major chances to rival the likes of the recently launched Skoda Octavia that made its debut in India a few months ago.
