Huawei Nova 2i, the best selling mid-range smartphone in Nepal has just got Android 8.0 Oreo update in Nepal. Earlier, the phone was running onAndroid Nougat 7.0. You get a host of new features on this new update including improved battery management and performance optimization.
Even though there are a few major changes to the new Huawei Nova 2i Android Oreo update, there are a lot of cosmetic and under the hood improvements. For instance, the company has made an update to the battery management software on the Nova 2i and this new iteration is said to consume a lot&nbsp;less battery when apps are running in the background.
Also, the Huawei Nova 2i gets a new Picture-in-Picture mode, better-looking Notification bar and also offers better optimization of Android apps. All the other changes are under the hood and the end-user may never be able to notice the changes in real life.
While many of you will be disappointed by the update and the availability of new features, things really aren't that bad. First, it's good to see manufacturers come out with a software update for their&nbsp;mid-range smartphone. Also, the fact that you will be getting security patches more often is a big plus.
Software updates are pushed out in batches. So, if you haven't got the software update to Android Oreo already, don't panic. It's probably on its way and should hit your phone in a day or two.

The Nova 2i is Huawei's best selling smartphone in Nepal. The phone stands out immediately for its 18:9 aspect ratio screen, putting it in the similar technical company to devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S8 or the company's own Mate 10 Pro. And the good news is, you can now get the phone for Rs.30,900. The Nova 2i earlier cost Rs. 33,900.&nbsp;
With the Nova 2i, it packs in a 5.9-inch display with a resolution of 2160x1080. The one caveat with this phone is that the display isn't terribly good in direct sunlight, even with brightness cranked to the fullest. However, it's great to have a large screen display which is excellent for watching videos and playing games.
The phone measures in at 156.2x75.2x7.5mm weighing in at 164 grams, making it quite a&nbsp;light phone. Also, thanks to the smaller bezels, the phone is quite compact for its size.
On the back of the phone, we have a fingerprint sensor sitting below the vertically mounted dual-camera array.&nbsp;That's somewhat par for the course for mid-range handsets of 2018. It's the mid-range phones that are getting all the features nowadays.
The Huawei Nova 2i has a key selling point, actually four of them. While we've seen plenty of dual lens premium handsets, but Huawei has decided to step up the game with 4 cameras on this phone. That means, at the front, you get a 13MP sensor paired with a 2MP sensor, while at the back there's a 16MP sensor paired with a 2MP sensor. The Nova 2i's implementation is very much all about focus, and how much of it you actually want. Other handsets pair their second lens with either it's a zoom lens, wide angle or monochrome lens.
All-in-all, the Huawei Nova 2i is an excellent phone and even more so after the price drop. If you are looking for a smartphone on the Rs.30,000 ballpark, the Huawei Nova 2i may be just the one to go for.
